"iDocumentTragedies" is the name we chose to use for our email and website because I wanted our name to somewhat describe the service we provide. The following is a brief history of how iDocumentTragedies came to be. After I finished my service in the US Army and graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder I was vice president of the only bank in my small town of Eastland, Texas for 20 years. While working at the bank I was "hand-picked", not randomly as it is supposed to be, to serve as a juror on over a hundred civil and criminal trials. My life would drastically change when I served as a juror because I saw an urgent, but unmet, need of tragedy victims and I wanted to do something about it someday.
After I experienced my own personal tragedies I felt a calling to leave my comfortable banking career to create and provide a unique service for all types of tragedy victims. So, I moved to Dallas where I began my rewarding venture. Call it fate or good luck my service began being called on and we have continued providing our laudable services since September 1979.
The types of needs of tragedy victims I saw when I was a juror in west Texas expanded with what seemed to have no boundaries. The specific need I saw was for a more cost effective and results effective way to present evidence to decision makers such as courts or insurance companies.
Most trial lawyers can do a good job following the law and they all talk a good talk, however, more often than not they present evidence in ways that are intentionally confusing to juries, who consist of a wide range of intellects, ages, long-time personal convictions, and right vs left brain thinkers.
In 1981, a Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Roger Sperry conducted research he titled, "Right Brain vs Left Brain Creativity Test". His test produced results unique to each individual's own left and right hemispheres. The test examined the categories of linear, sequential, symbolic, locical, verbal, and reality-based, which are associated with the left hemisphere. It also examined the categories of holistic, random, concete, intuitive, nonverbal, and fantasy-oriented, which are associated with the right hemisphere. There are always exceptions and while the majority of humans are going to be classified as being left-brained or right brained, one goal of a part of our service, S.E.E. Exhibits© is to utilize both halves of each juror's brain when they are processing evidence, which they generally only hear rather than see and use 3-dimensional evidence. "S.E.E." is an acronym for Sequence of Events Exhibits.
